Network Engineer Required in Dubai
The role of the Information Technology Network Engineer is to primarily handle installing, configuring, and monitoring network devices and services (e.g. firewall, switches, routers, load balancers, VPN, etc.) to ensure IFZA’s network security, as well as procuring the necessary equipment that provides the best efficiency for our IT infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is expected to set up and maintain networks within the organization, support users, employees, and partners, and liaise with suppliers. As such, it is crucial to have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work with others to resolve issues. The Network Engineer role will also include performing improvements and applying standard best practices to network devices configuration.
Main responsibilities
Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including, but not limited to, routers, PABX, proxy servers, switches, wireless access points, VLAN, WAN, firewalls, DNS and DHCP, Cloud network
Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
Selecting and implementing security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
Managing and monitoring a network of over 100 devices
Acting as a point of escalation on the service desk with regard to supporting L2-3 incidents
Monitoring network performance and ensuring system availability and reliability
Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
Performing network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
Arranging scheduled upgrades and updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
Investigating faults in the network
Monitoring system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
Reporting network status to Management
Optimization of firewall rules and traffic monitoring
Monitoring network activities through PTRG
Ensuring that best practices are being applied throughout the organization
Working within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
Liaising with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Performing other job-related duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications & skills
Full English proficiency is required
Additional spoken languages are a plus
Advanced computer literacy is required, e.g., MS Office
Proficiency in relevant information technologies and systems
Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools
Deep understanding of networking protocols, e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS
Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact confidently with others to explain problems and establish solutions that address their needs
Ability to use critical thinking and creativeness in establishing solutions.
Prior experience working in a multinational organization
Knowledge of ITIL a plus
Experience
Tertiary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant subjects OR equivalent in industry experience
CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP) highly valued
Prior experience working as a Network/Network Security Engineer or similar
