Introduction
The incumbent must possess strong experience in the non-ferrous metals (aluminium, lead,zinc, manganese) industry. The ideal candidate will lead in the development and execution of procurement function for our principals in Africa. The role will collaboratively build & maintain supplier and market data for non-ferrous metals, and support an assigned group of businesses in planning, sourcing, contracting and supplier relationships. The candidate will also be responsible for sales of aluminium ingots and refined lead ingots from Nigeria to the World. The role will demand abilities to build relationships with customers and work with the production units to meet customer schedules.
Job Description
Ability to perform market analysis and guide on strategies to manage various non-ferrous metals for the units.
Able to keep track of daily index prices on London Metal Exchange or Shanghai Metal markets for all the products and guide management to take purchase/sale decisions accordingly.
Promote purchase activity and foster relationships with suppliers. – Develop and maintain relationships with customers and trading partners.
Develop and manage relationships with producers and customers in order to identify new opportunities and enhance the company s growing presence globally.
Work closely with other departments (logistics, operations, etc.) to ensure a smooth supply chain and high customer service.
Daily negotiation with customers and suppliers. – Good communicating and interpersonal skills. – Ability to travel/meet with clients to build new trading relationships
Have a sound knowledge of how doing the hedging of these products
Able to devise best pricing formulas for each order & QP methods based on market movements & guiding team in line with Contango & Backwardation etc.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Techno-commercial candidate with Degree in Engineering / Business.
2. Minimum of 5 + years of experience in trading desk for non-ferrous industry (preferably aluminium)
3. Commercially astute, good problem solving skills and out of the box thinking
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills
5. Ability to travel/meet with clients to build new trading relationships
